One of my first experiences with the museum was when we visited through my company at a corporate event they were hosting. I had been once or twice before, but during one of those early events many years ago, I was blown away by realizing how much they had to offer! It was only then that I discovered how much the museum and their rotating exhibits, the people, the events - the overall community - meant to me.

My whole life, I worked in an office doing insurance. While it was a great experience and paid the bills, over the past few years I was looking for opportunities to do things outside of my cubicle - experiences that would leave memories and keep me fulfilled. Of course, the museum volunteer program spoke to me! I'm grateful for my time there and all the memories made, I just wish some of my old coworkers would come join me at the museum!

At first I felt a bit intimidated of being a museum tour guide - I had loved so many of the tours I had been on and I didn't want to mess it up for others! After I realized how much fun it was and how easy it was to talk about things I'm passionate about, my worries vanished. I get to have a blast showing people cool things every day!

My wife has been the most supportive person for me all of these years - cheering me on at all points of my life, including when I was making the decision to leave my job. Getting to show her everything I've learned at the museum through my volunteering is icing on the cake - and makes me look great! The museum is where all of my passions and loves come together, so taking her has been a great celebration of the joys of life.
