About the Campaign
On June 5th, 1976, 80 billion gallons of water surged from the broken walls of the Teton Dam. Floodwaters continued for over 100 miles for 3 straight days. In the path, there was devastation of land, livestock, and livelihoods. The flood claimed 11 lives and caused significant loss of property. Despite the overwhelming devastation, the community's response demonstrated remarkable resilience and unity, laying the foundation for a spirit of recovery that continues to inspire today; neighbors helping neighbors, coming together to rebuild homes, lives, and hope in the aftermath of disaster.
Join us in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the catastrophic 1976 Teton Dam flood: Flood 50. This community event serves to celebrate the resilience, recovery, and unity of the people who inspired a new way of life in the Snake River Valley. This event honors the strength, compassion, and unwavering spirit of the residents of Rexburg and the Snake River Valley, whose collective resilience continues to inspire us today. We invite all residents, past and present, to join us in remembering this pivotal moment in our history and to celebrate the enduring unity that defines our community.
