Tabernacle Legacy Campaign: Phase 2, HVAC
April 21, 2025 - December 25, 2025
About the Campaign
Rexburg's historic Tabernacle Civic Center was built in 1911 as a community effort to establish a space to gather. Following the Teton Dam Flood in 1976, the building sustained substantial damage. The City of Rexburg purchased the building and made critical repairs to preserve the space and ensure the safety of the structure. In the time since, the Tabernacle is showing signs of significant wear. The City is seeking financial support to restore the building and renovate it into a venue best suited for the needs of today and tomorrow.
The campaign seeks to raise five million dollars in total to make the repairs and enhancements necessary to prepare the facility for the next generation and preserve it for many more to come. Many efforts will be made to allow the Rexburg community and all who have experienced the rich history of the Civic Center to contribute to its restoration. Fundraising events, donation drives, and community outreach programs will be organized to engage both residents and visitors in supporting this important cause.
In this phase of our efforts, we are looking to install a new HVAC system. We are hoping to be able to install the system in the mid to late fall of 2025.
How To Participate
HVAC Campaign – "Help Bring Comfort Back to the Tabernacle"
What are the benefits of an HVAC system?
- The Tabernacle should be a place for every season. With proper heating and cooling, the building can host events, concerts, performances, and gatherings all year, not just in the warmer months. It opens the door for more community use and more life inside the halls.
- It's not just about comfort, it’s about preservation. A modern system helps regulate temperature and humidity, which serves to protect the historic woodwork, plaster, and artifacts from deterioration. Without it, the building's most beautiful details are at risk.
- If we restore it, it's our responsibility to protect it. HVAC is a key part of ensuring the millions invested in restoration are protected long-term. Without proper climate control, future damage and repairs become inevitable. This is smart stewardship of public and private donations.
