About the Campaign
Do you enjoy walking and biking Big Rapids? What if you could help make the City’s streets safer for riders and pedestrians, while also getting outside, exploring your City, saying hello to your neighbors, and connecting with City leaders and staff? Interested? Consider being a part of the BR Non-Motorized Passport Challenge.
Thanks to support from AARP’s Community Challenge Grant, the City is enlisting pedestrians and cyclists of all mobility levels to help us take a closer look at the streets and sidewalks of Big Rapids. Volunteers will help conduct the City's Walk and Bike Audits. (If you have already registered to volunteer for these Audits, you are already signed up for the Challenge!)
Join us for kickoff training event on Tuesday, August 18th at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Registered attendees will receive dinner, T-shirts, and other goodies while they learn how to effectively evaluate common routes in the City. Attendees will learn about the BR Non-Motorized Passport Challenge. Those who participate in the Challenge will be entered into a drawing to win one of several prizes, including gift cards from local businesses.
Can’t make it to the training? It will also be offered virtually. A recording will be available following the event.
Audits must take place Between September 1st and the 18th. Group audits will be coordinated at the August training event. While you are out, take a selfie and tag the City of Big Rapids while using the hashtag #BRPassport!
