About the Campaign
🚶📍🏛️ Step Into Revolutionary History Along the Loyalist Trail 🇺🇸🗺️
Experience one of Toms River’s most significant Revolutionary War stories by following the Loyalist Trail, a self-guided historical walking tour that traces the approximate route taken by Loyalist forces during the March 23–24, 1782 expedition that culminated in the Battle of the Toms River Blockhouse. Along the route, visitors will discover nine interpretive trail markers featuring QR codes that unlock historical narratives, maps, and educational content directly on their mobile devices.
The Loyalist Trail offers residents, students, history enthusiasts, veterans, and visitors an engaging opportunity to connect with local history while exploring parks, neighborhoods, and the downtown historic district. Developed through a partnership between Scouting America Troop 59, the Township of Toms River, the Historic Preservation Commission, and community sponsors, the trail preserves an important chapter of American history while encouraging heritage tourism, outdoor recreation, and civic pride.
