Trick-or-Treating on 1st Street has been a long-standing tradition in Downtown Mount Vernon, and each year we look forward to welcoming around 3,000 kids and their families to trick-or-treat at many of our small businesses! Each year, we see this event grow.

For the history of this event, our small businesses have shouldered costs of candy (upwards of $500 each), staffing, and loss of sales during the event. This is quite a big lift for our longstanding small businesses, but especially for some of our newer businesses downtown.

For Halloween 2026, we are asking our community members to help our small businesses with this lift to continue this beloved tradition for our kids and families.
