Welcome to Suisun City – where history meets waterfront charm, nature hugs the marina, and community spirit shines. Founded more than 150 years ago, Suisun City has evolved from a bustling transit and shipping hub to a vibrant waterfront community. The city was incorporated on October 9, 1868. The name “Suisun” comes from the local indigenous Patwin tribe and means (in the Wintun language) roughly “where the west wind blows”.
We’re the gateway to the Suisun Marsh – the largest brackish‐water marsh remaining on the West Coast of North America. Our waterfront marina, promenade and Old Town district make for beautiful sunsets, weekend strolls, and boat escapes.
At roughly 30,000 residents, we strike that sweet balance: friendly small-town feel, but enough energy and amenities to keep things fun. Because of our location — about 42 miles from Sacramento and 44 miles from San Francisco — we offer real access without the feeling of being in the thick of it.
