About the Campaign
Leadership Northshore’s Class of 2026 is pleased to introduce “Northshore Trashformation”- an environmental stewardship initiative that approaches litter abatement by transforming local refuse into a dynamic public art exhibition and contest, open to artists of any age.

Art Exhibit Information
The exhibit will display in the George Dunbar Gallery in the Slidell Cultural Center at City Hall and any oversize pieces will be displayed at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium during the opening reception on September 18th.
Juror Information
Dr. Bob is a renowned New Orleans folk artist. His signature "Be Nice or Leave" signs have made a permanent place in the subculture of the city of New Orleans.
Eligibility & Entry Rules
- Artists may work independently, or as a group.
- Each artist may submit up to two entries.
- Each work must be created primarily from trash or recycled materials. The percentage of trash used is up to the artist’s discretion but works containing higher percentages of trash may factor higher for the juror.
- Computer and/or digital manipulation may not be applied to artwork.
- Parents MUST accompany children during art drop off, pick up and any prize presentations.
- Artists must include an artist statement including:
- Short biography of the artist
- Photographs of trash materials before the "Trashformation" into an art piece
- Description of their creative process
Leadership Northshore Class of 2026 reserves the right to choose not to display artwork presented for exhibition.
Awards
Awards will be presented during the opening reception in both 2D and 3D adult categories, including Best of Show, Second Place, and Third Place.
Youth awards will follow a similar structure across 2D and 3D categories. Final age groupings and prize details will be determined after submissions are received.
Size & Hanging Requirements
- All work must be delivered dry and prepared to display or mount.
- All hanging work must be securely wired.
- Framed work must meet professional presentation standards.
- Each piece must have the artist’s name, telephone number, and address displayed on the back.
- Hanging artwork may not exceed 40 pounds total weight.
- All large artwork intended for display in the auditorium must arrive mounted or securely prepared for installation to ensure safe and stable presentation.

The gallery will not be staffed outside of these times.
Art Delivery, Large Pieces for Opening Reception (Municipal Auditorium)
• Friday, September 18, 2026 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
All accepted large pieces will be displayed during the opening reception at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium, located at 2056 Second Street.
Any large pieces not sold need to be brought home after the reception on September 18.
Opening Reception and Award Presentation
Friday, September 18, 2026 at the George Dunbar Gallery and Slidell Municipal Auditorium, 5-8 pm.
Artwork Pick-Up
- Large accepted works must be brought home after the opening reception on September 4th. Smaller accepted pieces that were displayed in the George Dunbar Gallery can be picked up on Monday, October 26 from 1 to 6 p.m. or Tuesday, October 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The gallery will not be staffed outside of pick-up times.
