"A Community Campaign for Our Four-Legged Friends"

The City of Minden is excited to announce the 2026 Pet Mayor Election and invite the community to once again take part in this fun and meaningful fundraiser benefiting local animals.

Following the incredible success of the inaugural Pet Mayor Election in 2024, which raised over $21,000 for the construction of the City’s new animal control facility, the Pet Mayor Election will return for another year of friendly competition, community involvement, and support for a great cause.

Local pets will have the opportunity to campaign for the titles of Pet Mayor, Chief of Pawlice, Fur Chief, and Pet Council Members, with votes cast through donations. Every dollar raised will go toward supporting animal welfare efforts and improvements to the City’s animal services.

Residents are encouraged to nominate their pets, vote for their favorites, and help make a difference in the lives of animals in the community.

The Collaring Ceremony honoring the winning pets will take place on Saturday, June 13th, where the newly elected Pet Mayor and other pet elected officials will be formally recognized.

Through this effort, the City of Minden and its residents are proving that when a community comes together, even four-legged friends can help lead the way.
