The Two Rivers Police Department Citizens Academy is a free, five-week interactive program designed to give community members a behind-the-scenes look at how their police department operates and serves the community.

Beginning Thursday, September 24, 2026, participants will meet once each week from 6:00 PM–8:30 PM through October 22, 2026. Sessions will include patrol operations, 911 and emergency communications, criminal investigations and evidence, School Resource Officers and community programs, K-9 and narcotics investigations, department technology, use of force and police decision-making, the court process, and community partnerships. Participants will have opportunities to meet department personnel, ask questions, take part in demonstrations and scenarios, and gain a better understanding of the responsibilities and challenges involved in modern law enforcement.

An optional supplemental Firearms Familiarization & Qualification Experience will also be offered on Saturday, October 17, 2026 for eligible academy participants.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Live, work, attend school, or own property in the Two Rivers area
• Complete the Citizens Academy application and required waiver
• Consent to a basic criminal history/background check
• Be willing to attend at least 75% of academy sessions to be eligible for graduation

There is no cost to participate, but class size is limited.

The Citizens Academy is intended to strengthen communication, increase transparency, and provide residents with a better understanding of the people, procedures, and decision-making behind the badge.
