The Fox Lake Community Garden offers residents and neighbors the opportunity to grow their own fresh produce, connect with fellow gardeners, and contribute to a healthier, more vibrant community. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or trying your first plot, this shared space is designed to support learning, collaboration, and stewardship of the land.

By participating, gardeners help promote healthy living, outdoor recreation, and positive social interaction—while also supporting the garden’s mission to donate fresh produce to local food pantries and those in need. The garden is managed by the Village of Fox Lake Parks & Recreation and Public Work Departments, and dedicated volunteer gardeners. community.
How it Works
The Village of Fox Lake is looking forward to a great year in the Community Garden! Here’s how we help at the Community Garden. We provide:
- Space for residents and members of surrounding communities to garden.
- Soil, compost, and woodchips for use in the garden.
- Access to water and shared basic tools for your gardens.
- Port-a-potties and compost bins.
- Mowing around the outside of the garden.
- Free parking for gardeners.
- Co-administer a private Facebook group.
- Email communications to gardeners during the season.
- Host Fox Lake Community Garden Committee Meetings.
The Registration Process
Registration opens for returning gardeners on February 24. Returning gardener plots will be reserved until March 17 when registration for new gardeners opens. If you are a returning gardener and you would like to be assigned the same plot(s) as last year, please complete the appropriate information below. If you are a returning gardener and do not complete an application by March 17, your plot will be released and made available to new gardeners. All the information requested below is required, and applications will not be processed until all information is provided and fees are paid.
Community Garden Plot Fees
Each garden plot is 4’ x 12’. Two plots are the maximum available to new gardeners. Returning gardeners may purchase three plots maximum. There are no refunds for plots.

Community Garden Calendar:
February 24: Registration opens for returning gardeners. Applications will be emailed to 2025 gardeners, and the forms will be available on the Village website and at the Village Hall.
March 16: Registration is open to all gardeners. Applications are available on the Village website and hard copies are available at the Village Hall.
April 1: Garden Opens
May 9: Garden Orientation from 11 AM – 12 PM in the Community Garden. Participation is strongly encouraged. Coffee and donuts are provided by the Village. Afterwards, join the fun at the Art on the Garden Party to celebrate the Garden’s 10th Birthday from 12-2 PM. The party includes a garden-themed chalking event, Maypole Dance, music, food, and fun.
Garden Orientation from 10am – noon at the Community Garden. Participation is encouraged. Join the fun at the Art on the Garden Party on the Garden Green from 12-2pm to celebrate new student art in the park with music, food, and fun.
TBD: Fox Lake Garden Harvest Meal & Clean-Up – Join your follow gardeners, community volunteers and Village staff for a shared meal featuring produce harvested in your garden plot, useful gardening information, and fun activities.
TBD: The Community Garden is closed for the season. Garden plots will be inspected to verify all garden debris and personal items has been removed.
