About the Campaign
The Rouge River Cleanup Day is a fantastic opportunity for Birmingham residents to come together and make a positive impact on our local environment. This event brings together community groups, churches, schools, environmental organizations, scouts, and neighborhood associations to help remove invasive species along the riverbank, ensuring that the Rouge River remains a beautiful and healthy part of our city. Join us in protecting this precious natural resource and making a difference in our community!

How to participate
The clean-up will be on Saturday, May 17, 2025
10am-12pm
Recommended items to wear & bring:
- Boots or sturdy shoes
- Long pants & long-sleeve shirt
- Hat
- Sunscreen
Volunteers should dress according to prevailing weather conditions.
Mosquito repellent, gloves and bags will be provided.
Guidelines
How to Participate
- Click “Adopt this Item”: Sign up as an individual or as a group to join the cleanup efforts. All ages and abilities are welcome!
- Prepare for the Day: Wear weather-appropriate clothing, gloves, and sturdy shoes. Bring any tools you have for removing invasive species, but we’ll also provide supplies.
- Help the Environment: Spend the day working along the river, removing invasive plants and litter to restore the natural habitat.
Our Guidelines
- Safety First: All volunteers will receive a safety briefing at the start of the event. Please follow all guidelines to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
- Community Involvement: This is a family-friendly event. We welcome participants of all ages and abilities to join in and make a difference.
- Environmental Impact: The city will provide guidance on identifying and removing invasive species to ensure our efforts are as effective as possible.
