Memorial Bench Program
Campaign Dates: 05/01/2024 - 09/29/2024
About the Campaign
Welcome to our City's Memorial Bench Program! This gives you the opportunity to select a bench and beautify your community to celebrate occasions and milestones, remember your loved ones, or highlight someone special. By participating, you contribute not only to the beautification of our parks but also to beautiful stories all throughout our city. Each Memorial Bench comes with a plaque with your message and a QR code that allows you to tell your Digital Story so that anyone visiting can scan to learn more about the story behind your gift. Through your participation, you help transform our parks into landscapes of memory and reflection, enriching our community’s legacy and offering a place of comfort and remembrance for everyone to appreciate!
Campaign Guidelines
- Select a Bench: View our map of Available bench listings to see where you can leave a lasting legacy in our community. These locations have all been identified by our city and are our readily available benches to claim. If you’d like to propose a location that you don’t see, please click ‘Propose’ on our Community Profile to identify on the map where you’d like to donate a bench.
- Submit Payment: On your identified Available bench, click ‘Participate Now’ to check out and pay online. You will receive an email with a letter acknowledging your tax-deductible contribution. If you wish to pay by check, please drop off your check at city hall.
- Customize your Plaque and Digital Story: After your contribution is processed, you will receive an email inviting you to join SeeMyLegacy so that you can input your custom plaque message to be printed and so that you can begin telling your Digital Story.
- Installation: Once payment has been received, the city will purchase the bench and assume responsibility for installing and maintaining them at the chosen site, which will be installed during suitable weather conditions and when city personnel are available.
- Generic Public Use: Donor shall acquire no right, title, or interest in the bench and plaque beyond that expressly identified. Donor acknowledges and understands that the Bench will be open and available for general public use in a manner consistent with city policy and practices.
- Content Moderation: The city reserves the right to reject any proposed plaque message or moderate a digital story containing language that is obscene, lewd, defamatory, infringes upon the proprietary rights of any third party, is factually inaccurate, or is otherwise inappropriate.
- Maintenance: The city has the option, but not the responsibility, to maintain the bench and its surrounding area for a 10-year period. In the case of vandalism, theft, or damage, the city can choose to replace the bench or plaque.
