🌬️💙 Bring a Wind Phone to Whitefish 💙🌲📞

The City of Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with a local family and community supporters, is working to bring a Wind Phone to Whitefish—a peaceful place where individuals experiencing grief can find a moment of reflection, remembrance, and connection. Inspired by a family’s personal journey through the devastating loss of a loved one, this project seeks to create a meaningful space where people can symbolically “call” those they have lost and share words left unsaid.

Location: Pedestrian Path off 2nd Street and Cow Creek, Whitefish, Montana

Originally created in Japan by Itaru Sasaki, Wind Phones have become powerful symbols of healing in communities around the world. The Whitefish Wind Phone will feature Douglas Fir construction, tempered glass panels with views of nature, a bench, and a disconnected rotary phone within a thoughtfully designed structure. This project represents Whitefish’s commitment to emotional wellness, compassion, and creating spaces where people can grieve, heal, and remember together. Donations will directly support construction materials, installation, landscaping, and the long-term durability of this community resource.
